Merchants Quay was closed to pedestrians at the Prince Street entry because of a ‘chemical spillage’. The police stated that the Council had closed the road as a precaution and the road would be reopened shortly.
It appears a tub of pink sealant was stolen from the contractor’s secure store and tipped onto the pavement. There may be closed-circuit coverage of the spillage which could help identify those responsible.
